Draft:Itoe Mutanga Benjamin


Benjamin Mutanga Itoe is a Cameroonian lawyer and magistrate. He was born on September 23, 1942 in Bombe- Bakundu; Meme Division, South-West Region, Cameroon. He is married and is a father to six children.

Early Life and Education

In 1967, his educational career extended to the university of Lagos in Nigeria where he obtained a degree in Law and was later called into the the bar association in June 25th, 1968. In 1969, He later came back to Cameroon and enrolled at the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM). He belonged to the batch of 1969.

Career

He started as Attorney General in Buea and later became the first Attorney General of the Bamenda Court of Appeal in 1972. He then held various ministerial positions including Minister of Transport (1984), Minister of Justice (1985), and Minister of Tourism (1989).

Achievements

Judge Itoe was later conferred with the honour of Cameroonian Knight of the National Order of Valour in 1985 and Officer of The National Order of Valour in 1997. He was also appointed as a Judge in the administrative bench of the United Nations' Special Court for Sierra Leone from 2002-2009.

Justice Itoe was consecrated as leader with the title of 'Tata Nganga Mataka wa Bakundu' in April 2012 by the Bakundu' people. He was also given the task of steering the Bakundu people in their fight against poverty and to get them involved in President Paul Biya's Major Accomplishments policy in the country.
