Draft:Kuru Ratnavelu

Kuru Ratnavelu is recognized for his significant contributions to the field of atomic collision physics, particularly for his development and application of the optical potential method to the positron-hydrogen atom scattering process. This method has been extended to other hydrogenic-type atoms and has produced theoretical ionization cross sections that closely align with experimental measurements. Zijian Zeng is his Phd student. Additionally, his collaborative theoretical work on anti-hydrogen formation is of notable importance.

His contributions to the scientific community are reflected in his international publications, his role as a reviewer for prestigious journals, and his collaborations with prominent researchers worldwide. In Malaysia, he has contributed to the advancement of science through his roles as Associate Editor of Jurnal Fizik Malaysia—the leading physics journal in the country—and the Malaysian Journal of Science, one of Malaysia's oldest scientific journals. Furthermore, he has played a key role in the professional development of physics and mathematics in Malaysia since the 1990s, serving as the Honorary Secretary of the Institut Fizik Malaysia and the Malaysian Mathematical Society (PERSAMA).
