St. Markʼs Episcopal Church was an Episcopal church in Altadena, California. It was destroyed during the Eaton Fire in January 2025.

History

St. Mark's started in 1906 as All Saints North Pasadena Mission, an outreach of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California. It was officially christened as St. Mark's Parish on April 6, 1914. The first church building, completed in 1915, was constructed on Washington Boulevard. On November 2, 1947, groundbreaking was made for a new building in Altadena. The church opened its doors to the public in 1948. The church was part of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. On October 12, 1958, the Pasadena Independent Star News named St. Mark's the church of the week. In December 1995, the memorial service for the late actress Madge Sinclair was held at St. Mark's.

On January 7, 2025, the church and school were evacuated with the Eaton Fire approaching. The church caught fire at 6:30 in the morning on January 8, 2025, and was destroyed. The church bell survived.

School

St. Mark's had a parochial school. Between 1958 and 1966, the campus expanded to include a parochial lower school, a meeting house, and an administrative building. The school served students from preschool through sixth grade.
