History

Dr. Romesh Wadhwani, an Indian-American tech entrepreneur and co-founder of private equity firm Symphony Technology Group, founded SymphonyAI in 2017 and has committed up to $1 billion of his private fortune in the company.

SymphonyAI was initially a holding company for multiple smaller companies across different industries and is now a unified AI software operating company servicing businesses in the industries listed above, using a common AI platform called Eureka AI.

Recent acquisitions

SymphonyAI has completed a number of acquisitions. In 2022, SymphonyAI purchased BAE Systems' financial fraud detection software, NetReveal. In 2023, the firm acquired the decision science and data management company 1010Data.

Earlier acquisitions included ReTech Labs, a provider of real-time store shelf image capture and recognition technology, Savigent Software, a workflow orchestration platform company, and Proceedix, a connected frontline industrial worker platform, in 2021. In 2019, SymphonyAI acquired Media Audits International and Azima, which was then sold to Fluke Reliability in 2023. Ayasdi, a data analysis company, was acquired in 2019.

Partnerships

SymphonyAI and Ernst and Young formed a strategic partnership in 2023 to help other organizations with their generative AI needs in the retail and financial services sectors. In 2023 SymphonyAI partnered with Oracle Corporation too, providing AI-enabled merchandising and supply chain solutions for retail customers. SymphonyAI was named Microsoft’s 2024 Partner of the Year for Business Transformation.

In 2021 the company’s annual revenues reached $220 million. In 2023 it achieved an annual revenue run rate of $500 million. The company's CEO is Sanjay Dhawan, and its board of directors includes private equity executive Blythe Masters, robotics engineer and computer scientist Daniela Rus and retired executive vice president at Walmart Todd Harbaugh.
