Results by province
@Nzfkm2: Thanks for adding the provincial results, but the totals are quite different to the overall results (see bottom two rows below). Is this an issue with the source, or a mistake in transcribing them? Cheers, Number5711:17, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't noticed it, thanks for pointing this out. Both overall results and provincial results come from National Electoral Commission (YSK) website (all in this document prepared by Turkish Statistical Institute:[1]https://www.ysk.gov.tr/doc/dosyalar/1923-2011-MVSecimleri-Tuik.pdf).
I don't exactly know the reason for discrepancy. But in the fifteenth page of this document, it is written that for elections in certain years (1950, 1954, 1957), the tables show the average of the vote received by party candidates in that province. Interestingly, overall result in cited Nohlen databook is also different from both YSK overall results and summed provincial results. Nzfkm2 (talk) 14:55, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That (being the average number of votes cast per candidate) would seem to be the obvious reason the results don't tally. Do you think it's still worth including the table but with some prose to explain that the figures are different to those used to calculate the total? Cheers, Number5721:59, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it is better to leave out the provincial results for elections in 1950s, for which the results don't tally. Because of the used electoral system, the values in the table can be misleading. I might add detailed results for more recent elections later on, if there are no such problems. Nzfkm2 (talk) 12:25, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
