"Cloudy... Chance of Murder" is the 12th episode of the first season of the American comedy-drama television series Psych.
Plot
While at the courthouse to pay $900 worth of parking fines, Shawn Spencer (James Roday) notices a woman picking up a piece of trash and placing it in the garbage. He helps the Santa Barbara Police Department prove a man guilty, using his keen powers of observation and his near perfect photographic memory he obtained as a kid.
Shawn takes advantage of this, realizing a new career has just fallen into his lap. He visits his childhood friend Burton "Gus" Guster (Dulé Hill), a pharmaceutical representative.
Shawn and Gus are heading towards the Police Auction on his motorcycle. He meets up with his father, Henry (Corbin Bernsen), who tells him that he has decided to purchase his motorcycle back for him in response to his help with the case. As Shawn protests, the guard in charge states that the motorcycle has been paid for and cleared of all charges. Another policeman rolls the bike into an adjoining room and Detective Carlton Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) comes walking out behind it.
Reception
IGN gave the episode a favorable review, saying that although the 90-minute episode "drags on a bit longer than it needs to" it "certainly has the makings of a fun and diverting series."
