How can I help you update Swimming World Wikipedia page?

Some information is not accurate.

Hi. What information is not accurate?

January 2023

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Kaggle, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you for your copyediting work, but I'd like to bring your attention to WP:LQ, which stipulates that Wikipedia articles should use British-style quotations anywhere, even on articles written in American English. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:34, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out. I will adjust to British-style quotations, accordingly. I have actually seen a lot of articles that use both. I've made a few of those edits. Should I go back through my list of edits and change them or just let them get rejected? Edward Bednar (talk) 19:41, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going through your old edits to fix any issues, so just keep that in mind when you edit in the future. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:44, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Edward Bednar (talk) 19:49, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Tata Communications. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Please read WP:ENGVAR. The article isn't written in American, & Tata don't use that spelling. David Biddulph (talk) 00:58, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for catching that. I wasn't aware of the national variety for that word. But, I changed the spelling because it is spelled with one "l" in the Wikipedia article for Signal, which "Signaling" redirects to. Might be helpful for you to also add a redirect page for this spelling. Thanks again. Edward Bednar (talk) 02:48, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the top of the article Signal you'll see the tag {{Use American English|date=June 2019}}. Signalling and Signaling do both redirect to that article. - David Biddulph (talk) 09:37, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok. I see that now. Thanks. I'm just getting started and still have a lot to learn. Edward Bednar (talk) 14:43, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A belated welcome!

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Edward Bednar! I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may still benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Need some ideas of what kind of things need doing? Try the Task Center.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome! ElusiveTaker (talk) 13:57, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MOS

Hi Edward! Thanks for all your hard work bringing articles into line with the Manual of Style – a thankless job and one you're excellent at!

You're making each individual change as a single edit, saving it, then editing the article again to make the next change. This might be because of technical limitations at your end, in which case that's fine obviously, but it would help your fellow editors if you could see if it was possible to make these changes in just a couple (or even just one) edit.

This is because the multiple small changes flood the watchlists of other editors, myself included, and also make navigating the history of an article difficult – important if people need to sort out a technical issue or revert random vandalism.

As I say, if there's a tech reason you can't, then I'll live with that because your work is more important than what are just really preferences here. But if you can, that'd be really good!

Thanks again for what you're doing for Wikipedia's readers: it has been noticed and is appreciated. — Trey Maturin 19:04, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trey, Thank you for the feedback. I'm still very new at this and appreciate the guidance. I had actually been thinking that more smaller edits was better, which I had, of course, noticed breaks down pretty quickly in larger articles. But I hadn't considered the other side of it, as you described (e.g., watchlist items). I'll adjust. Thanks again. Ed Edward Bednar (talk) 15:36, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Did you intend to insert no wiki tags

Special:diff/1160353229 added an unmatched <nowiki\/> closing tag? Is there a technical reason why this tag is needed? Or perhaps it was a typo? — BillHPike (talk, contribs) 01:12, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BillHPike,
I didn't and thank you for asking. I actually asked about this in the Teahouse recently. That tag gets added for some reason with en dashes. It only happens infrequently and I still don't know why. One response I got was that it was because I was using the en dash template and introduced me to how to just use the en dash symbol, which I use now. But it looks like it has still happened again. Do you know why?

Your view

Hi there, I wonder if I could get your view on the seaside resort talk page? I feel city should be added along with town, village and hotel and would like to get other editors views. Many thanks. 78.86.133.37 (talk) 17:23, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seems reasonable, if you want to make that change, although I suppose that it could be considered redundant by some. The link for town is to the resort town article, which lists town, city, and resort. Edward Bednar (talk) 18:27, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yes I think so, do you think you could add your view in the talk page? I would appreciate your contribution. Many thanks. 78.86.133.37 (talk) 18:49, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Romesh Wadhwani page

I noticed the page for Romesh Wadhwani looks like it's out of date according to recent reports from CNBC, TIME, Forbes, and elsewhere. His LinkedIn profile shows him to be head of SAIGroup - https://www.linkedin.com/in/romesh-wadhwani/ Would it be okay to go in there and make some edits, or are there others I should check in with?
