Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Question

I noticed your userpage is in Category:Wikipedian university teachers. Does that mean you're involved in WikiEd? If so, I'd be insanely curious to hear about your experiences. I very rarely see anyone from WikiEd interested in the more "meta" side of things. I also haven't met many experienced editors that started that way (I think I have one yes from a WikiEd student at User:Clovermoss/Editor reflections). Hello! I am not (presently?) involved in WikiEd, I just happen to be a University teacher. At the institution where I got my Master's degree they did have a mandatory class where all First Year Students had to participate in a WikiEd thing, though, so I was involved in WikiEd in that regard, but that was years ago. Thank you for being willing to share that. Maybe I'll find an active WikiEd teacher someday. I've always been interested in the concept of WikiEd. I've been editing since I was 16 (without any school involvement) so my desire comes from trying to understand that other side of things. The closest I got was asking some questions to a keynote speaker in Poland (technically he wasn't involved with WikiEd because it's North America based but he did something similar with student assignments). Ah! In one of the articles I edited not long ago I saw it was involved in a WikiEd program. The instructor was @User:Sarah Schneewind. You might be able to get answers to your questions from her. Emm90 (talk) 01:59, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
