- The Shanes(de) → The Shanes (German band) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
The target is a German band, which is probably what the "de" represents, but it's not a plausible search term on this Wikipedia. Steel1943 (talk) 21:50, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Suck my cock
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was Delete * Pppery * it has begun... 06:02, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
“My” specifically refers to something of one person. Probably used more as an insult, like Suck my dick, which is a non existent and salted page. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 22:14, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Crosswiki redirect to Wiktionary's page suck my cock. -insert valid name here- (talk) 23:44, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete consistent with Suck my dick. A soft redirect would be inconsistent. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 21:32, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete, neutral on wiktionary redirect. This seems like a unlikely search term and most are probably searching for the insult rather than the act. Ca talk to me! 01:49, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Only if you buy me dinner first. Delete, yeah, phrasing it this way makes it kind of silly as a search term for the current target, while an actual search for this finds a handful of hits in various places, so it impedes normal searching. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 22:34, 6 January 2025 (UTC)- Keep per WP:NOTCENSORED and per Thryduulf's !vote back in 2020. Nothing has changed since then, in my opinion, and this is still a plausible redirect. CycloneYoris talk! 09:35, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- One argument that is common to the three RfDs is that the redirect is a slang, and the current target about the act/practice is NOT the appropriate target for the slang. The current nomination (although unsurprisingly by a disruptive and blocked user) which highlights "my", is by far the strongest argument, and I too disagree with a prior RfD !vote that the current target is the primary topic. Agree with IP 67 and Dsuke1998AEOS from the 2023 RfD that we need a better target, in the absence of which, Wiktionary is the next best choice. My issue with the wikt page is that all it says is:
An expression of discontent or aggravation to another party.
, and provides no reference or link to the sexual act the slang alludes to. I would suggest retarget to Cock (slang)#Cocksucker as a close match, which to some extent describes a contrast between the organ, the act and the slang. Jay 💬 11:05, 14 January 2025 (UTC)- This isn't a good target -- one is a personal insult, while the other is used as some sort of retort, making this a misleading redirect. Deletion would still be better. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 17:30, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Steel1943 (talk) 19:56, 17 January 2025 (UTC)- Weak delete, or Wiktionary redirect as second choice. We're not going to have a sufficiently specific article for this use of the term, better to let the user find it on a dictionary than offer a tangentially related article, that could cause more confusion/miscommunication than anything Mlkj (talk) 13:56, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- My views on this redirect haven't changed much since the last RfD. It's been nearly one-and-a-half years since I posted that comment?! The 2023 nomination was not great, but at the same time I thought the redirect's target was not ideal. I'm not thrilled at the idea of directing readers to one-line Wiktionary entries, but it is unfortunately the best option here. Cock (slang)#Cocksucker is mostly about the personalized insult, rather than the expression of "discontent". In case it's not clear, soft redirect to Wiktionary. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 22:51, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete I agree that "my" would have an insulting impression. --A1Cafel (talk) 06:10, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

- Comment: This may require a separate RFD discussion, but some entries on Simpson family also appear at List of recurring Simpsons characters; Mona Simpson's redirects are split between the two. Should larger character sections and their redirects (which includes Ling, Jacqueline and Clancy Bouvier, and possibly Herb Powell) on both pages be moved to the list of recurring characters? Xeroctic (talk) 09:30, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget Anita to the list per Googabbagabba. Delete the Antia entries as implausible. We don't have "Antia" redirecting to "Anita" as a typo/misspelling. Jay 💬 11:36, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

- Delete for the simple fact that there's no reason to retain this. The page/redirect without the "Draft:" prefix, Dagbani Wikipedia, was created about two years before this nominated redirect. In addition, my most educated guest here was that this redirect was created in the hope that it would get published/promoted into the article space, but that process is traditionally done through WP:AFC/R and in this case will not be valid in any way since the mainspace title already existed at the time of this nominated redirect's creation. - Comment: Looks like I discovered why this redirect exists: Per 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, the target page formed after the "J" storm, though that year's actual "K" storm formed before that year's "J" storm. I'd imagine the redirect is a nickname that has a reference somewhere due to this oddity since from what I know, storms are named by when they form in alphabetical order ("A" for 1st, "B" for 2nd, etc.) ... but in 2021, it ended up being "ABCDEFGHIKJLMNOPQRSTUVW".) Probably not useful. Created with the edit summary "MOS: redirects to the Manual of Style". MOS is now a namespace of its own. And in any situation, "MOS" is both longer and more specific than just the letter "h", followed by a colon. I'd argue there's really no reason to have this as a guesswork redirect. People looking for help would probably be more likely to type in something like H:HELP which takes them to the same place. All articles have titles. Utopes (talk / cont) 14:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep in the absence of a better target. Nice shortcut linking to the "top" of the relevant namespace, just like wikt: links to the Wiktionary Main Page. —Kusma (talk) 22:11, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- H (disambiguation) is a better as an R from modification. I'm not sure where and why there would be assumption is that someone typing in two characters would be looking to jump namespaces; it is a search that can be replicated by anyone. Many people have no idea what a pseudo-namespace redirect is, and "H:" being two singular characters feels like a plausible enough search for content about some form of the letter "H" or its disambiguations. We should make sure that the only people who fall into the Wikipedia backrooms are only the people who are confident in their actions and are sure of what they are doing. "H:" says nothing about the page and is guesswork unless one reads the RfD, imo. "H:H", "H:C", "H:?", as well as a comfortable H:HELP at least have some clarity in their usage as a pseudo-namespace and point to the same place, rather than having this be a very similar type of redirect to something like H., which points at the disambiguation. Wikt is cross-project and has different functionality. [[Help:]] doesn't work, neither [[Wikipedia:]], [[WP:]], [[Template:]], [[TM:]], or any actual namespace. - The result of the discussion was no consensus. -- Tavix (talk) 16:29, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
I don't believe this is helpful as a redirect. Even as a pseudo-namespace, it's generally a good idea to give some indication about what category is being sought here, to which there is none. CAT:CONT makes a lot more sense, rather than being one colon away from the mainspace disambiguation page of CAT. Utopes (talk / cont) 14:15, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep – There are many cross-namespace redirects to category space beginning with "CAT:". CAT: is the pseudonamespace prefix and that's why it goes to Category:Contents at the top of the category tree. The shortcut makes sense. Mclay1 (talk) 01:29, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

- Comment: I had to learn what these were when I first saw them, so perhaps a destination for these 'empty' pseudonamespace redirects could be WP:PNS, explaining what they are. I see Utopes' point that there is no [[Template:]], [[WP:]], etc. so these are somewhat esoteric. I don't really see the harm in keeping if someone does find useful though (perhaps something about polluting search results?), and I see the reasoning behind targeting a 'top-level' page (which appears to be the case for CAT: and H:).

- Comment: When I search for "Category:", there are no results but a bulb icon asks me the question
Did you mean: Category:Contents?
Given that "CAT:" is the short for "Category:" I don't see why this redirect is a problem if the "Did you mean" is embedded within the software. Jay 💬 12:43, 26 January 2025 (UTC)- It's not embedded withing the software. That comes from Module:Bad title suggestion. I wrote code to direct searchers for "MOS:" to WP:Manual of Style following Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive_ 15#Cleaning up MOS: links, and then while I was at it added the other namespaces with a clear root page as a "Why not?", not really expecting them to be used.
